Because fossils provide information about different types of organisms animals and plants that how they were existed in before time as we see them now and the most important thing is that their evolution with time they had and changed them into the more advanced creatures than the primitive creatures and how they may be looked at in the past how they look that now. How many billion years before they exist on earth is also known by fossils by carbon dating method which is more most important method among all the types of dating methods.
