Why are frog egg covered with jelly-like coating?

because jellylike coating prevent them from scattering and it makes them to flow on water.

There are lots of functions that the jelly in frog's egg can provide. Firstly it helps to keep the eggs together or else they may float with water. Secondly it acts as a protective covering so that the eggs do not die.
