Why are frogs active at night?
sujatha275:
Their thin, permeable skin is not waterproof, which means they can lose a lot of body moisture on warm days. For this reason, frogs are most active at night, when they will hop about in search of food or a mate. During the day, they find a hiding spot and wait until the heat and light of the sun have passed.

Frogs croak at night for many reasons. One is that is when they are out and active. They croak to attract mates; to proclaim their territory; to warn of danger; and many other things depending on type. Their croaks can even be used by some old timers to forecast the weather with pretty good accuracy. I never learned to do it, but I’ve known a few people that I would trust over the weatherman any day. One reason they may croak my just be their way of singing with joy at the world God has made. Many people would say that’s applying human aspects to animals, but I don’t think humans have the corner on emotions. They sure seem to exhibit fear and anger easy enough for all to see. With a closer look, people seen the so called higher emotions too, like love, pity, sadness, loyalty etc. So, yes I do believe that sometimes they are just singing.
