Why are gases easily compressible whereas solids are incompressible

Gasses are highly compressible because it is less dense than other states of matter. ... This is because the intermolecular force of attraction in solids is greater compared to other states of matter. The moles in solidsare tightly packed. Therefore,solids are almostincompressible.
