Why are gases highly compressible, but not solids or liquids

Becoz the atoms are not so closely packed just like solids.

In gases, the molecule has hardly any influence on any other molecule and can be brought too close to other molecules. But in solids, there is a negligible intermolecular space and cannot be brought further close.
Similar is the case with liquids. Thus, gases are highly compressible than solids or liquids.
