Pickled items, especially those prepared at home, need to be preserved in clean, dry bottles with air tight caps.
Since artificial preservatives or shelf-life enhancers are not added to such home-made items, any moisture, impurities or other bacteria left over in bottles, will affect its quality, as well as shelf-life.
Drying in sunlight is the most cost-effective method of getting bottles perfectly dry and getting rid of common bacteria from them.
