The Himalayas act as a natural barrier between two climatic regions, India and Central Asia.
The Himalayas prevent the cold and dry winds of Central Asia from entering into India.
The Himalayas also act as physical barrier for rain bearing south-west monsoon winds to cross the northern frontiers of India.
As the Himalyas are seperating India and Central Asia both climatically and phsically they are called the climatic divide.
