Tungesten is metal having very high melting point. It can be kept white hot without melting. It is very flexible and low rate of evaporation at high temperature. So it is used for filaments in bulb. Argon or nitrogen is filled because they are very unreactive and cannot react with hot tungesten and prevent its burning. Air can react with and burn it.
So it is very unreactive and prevent burning of hot tungesten.
