And not all people were against him...in history..as he always followed nonviolent paths..some people were there who disliked him..
they thought if they follow violent methods then our country will become independent more earlier..

coz it was decided that all Muslims should shift to Pakistan but Gandhi ji said Muslims can live here it was d anger of ppl that if it is decided that Muslims will shift pak n Hindus will stay in India but that didn't happen so
