Inert gases (noble gases) are called so because of their less or non reactive nature due to stabilty attributed to their electronic configuration.

eg Neon, argon

elements having valency zero or whose shells are complete and they do not react with any other element are called inert gases.

examples are- neon,argon,xenon etc
