Insectivores plants have chlorophyll present it them so they can make their own food, but they grow in soil that lacks nitrogen which plants need to prepare food. The nitrogen present in the air cannot be used by plants in that form. Every plant has it's own way of obtaining the nitrogen...most through nitrogen rich fertilizers, legumes get nitrogen from a bacterium known as rhizobium and insectivores plants get their nitrogen through insects as insects contain a lot of nitrogen in useable form. Due to this characteristic where they eat insects...they are called partial heterotrophs.
