Leguminous plants are nitrogen fixer which improves fertility power of soil, that's why these crops are used in crop rotation...

Leguminous crops are desired in crop rotation because these crops have the ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen into the soil and hence can reduce the cost of nitrogenous fertilizer and is not harmful to the soil.
