Why are liquids and gases categorised as fluids?

Fluids got their name because the flow from one place to another. As the liquids and Gasses move/ flow from one place to another they are categorised as Fluid.
And Gasses and Liquids have properties like Compression Diffusion etc. of the Fluids.
