when chemical reaction other than acid or base and it can also cause a color change to litmus paper.

Litmus is a natural acid base indecator which help's us to know that the substance is acidic or basic in nature .
it is obtained from lichens . There are two colours of litmus 1.blue 2.red .
a blue litmus changes it's colour into red when it is in the contact with a acid , but red litmus will not be affected when it is in contract with acid because red litmus is acidic in nature .
a red litmus changes it's colour from red to blue when it is in the contact with base , but blue litmus will not change its colour from Blue when it is in contact with a base because it is basic in nature . when the solution in neutral in nature it will not affect the blue or neither the red litmus paper because the solution is nithere acidic or nithere basic .
