why are lyophilic colloids stable and lyophobic unstable? Is it because the former is solvent loving and the latter is solvent hating? Explain.

yes ........you are right..due to solvent loving nature there is no repulsion between them..thus they are stable... while in other they are solvent hating groups...thus there is repulsion.....thus they are unstable

lyophillic colloids are solvent loving as they get dissolved in the solvent due to strong intermolecular force of attraction whereas lyophobic remain over the surface or donot get dissolved .
