because the ova gets fertilized and the spongy lining is neend for the development of the baby....


ankit1978: The Human Chorionic Gonadotropins maintains the corpus luteum and stimulate it to secrete progesterone. The latter maintain the endometrium of the uterus and causes it to grow throughout the pregnancy. This prevents menstruation. Thusmenstrual cycle is absent during pregnancy.
