Why are metal carbonates and sulphides first converted into corresponding oxides for finally obtaining the correspoinding metals?

It is converted into oxides because it is easier to obtain metals from their oxides when compared to their carbonates and sulphides

Carbonated and sulphide ores are converted to oxides by roasting or calcination because the method of obtaining of pure element from oxide ore is more easy comparatively from sulphides or carbonated .
