Why are mitochondria and chloroplasts known as semi autonomous organelles .

Chloroplast and mitochondria have their own DNA ,RNA , ribosomes and enzymes to synthesis their own protein. So they are referred as semiautonomous organelles as they are partly under the control of nucleus and partly work independently in the cell.

Answer: Chloroplast and mitochondria are called semi-autonomous organelle because only they have their own DNA,RNA, enzymes and transport system. They have their own DNA to make some of their own protein.
