There are more sources of information available in the mediaeval period compared to the ancient period because
1. Mediaeval period saw the rise of excellent historical writings.This gives an information about the ruler and his political, social and economic life.. For example, Ain-i-Akbari written by Abul Fazl gives an insight of Akbar's administration.
2.During this period different buildings were constructed by different rulers such as mosques, tombs,palaces, forts, temples etc.A study of these buildings clearly specify the social, economic and political life of the given period.For example, Agra Fort,Taj Mahal,Jama Masjid,Sun Temple at Konark etc
3.Various rulers issued coins which depicts the date and projects the picture of the ruler.Moreover, the metals used in making the coins tells us about the economic condition of the kingdom.
4. Many foreign travellers have visited India during this time and left an account of their observations.It helps us to know about the condition of India at that time.For example, Ibn Battutah about Muhammad Tughlaq.
In ancient period the sources of information were minimal. It contained less factual data and cannot be considered as authentic. There were no scholarly historians to record the events of the existing time.No conspicuous buildings or forts were built to mark the significance of the events of that time.
