In their elemental states, they tend to form either monotomic molecules, such as inert gases, or they form diatomic molecules,like oxygen, nitrogen, chlorine, etc. These structures lend themselves to isolated electronically complete molecules that don't bound with each other molecules therefore most non metals art gaseous.⬅
