Carbon compounds are made by covalent bonds where electrons shared between elements. Here there is no production of any charged particles(ions).
But for conducting electricity, there is a requirement for the movement of charged particles.hence, they are poor conductors of electricity.

Hope it helped ya

DJAKM: thanx a lot

Answer:

Carbon compounds are poor conductor of electricity because they form covalent bond and carbon compounds do not give rise to free electrons or ions in aqueous solution. As result they are poor conductor of electricity .
