The main reason for most of the rivers draining into the Bay of Bengal is dueto the slope of peninsular plateau. Bay of Bengal because of the topography of the region.

Most of the Peninsular Rivers drain into the Bay of Bengal because:

1. The Eastern Ghats are lower than the Western Ghats and moreover the Eastern Ghats are discontinuous providing the rivers an easy passage to the Bay of Bengal.

2. The Deccan Plateau slopes towards the east.
