Why are nails made very thin at one end and somewhat thick at other end??

1)nails are thin or pointed at the end so that the area of contact force become very less increasing the pressure because pressure is inversely proportional to the area. hence with this relation the nail will easily penetrate .

one end is made thin because to increase the pressure and the other end is is made thicker to decrease the pressure.
pressure is equal to force by area
