Why are non-metallic oxides called acidic oxides? Give an example of an acidic oxide.

Non metals when get oxidized forms nonmetallic oxides which are always acidic in Nature because in aqueous form they turn the blue litmus in red colour indicating that they are acidic in nature......

e.g. are Carbondioxide,Sulphurdioxide,..Nitric Acid. ....

becoz many metals oxides dissolve in water , forming hydroxide ( which r basic )
CaO + H2O ----->Ca(OH)2
