northern plains are thickly populated becaudr of the following reasons:

~northern plains have vast alluvium diposits which makes it a fertile plain.fertile plains are fit for agriculture which attracts population of India whose mahority occupation is agriculture.

~northern plains are mostly consisted of river basins .we know that most population is concentrated near rivers which makes northern plains populated.

~also religiously it has so many temples which attracts the population.
