Well the reason why is, While the term "Scandinavia" is commonly used for Denmark, Norway and Sweden, the term "Nordic countries" is used unambiguously for Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, including their associated territories (Greenland, the Faroe Islands and the Åland Islands)

pratyusha902: why are they called scandinavian countries
geraldburkestu: The reason Denmark, Norway and Sweden are known a Scandinavian countries is the Scandinavian peninsula, not the other way around. ... The origin of the name is generally agreed to come from the district known today as Scania in southern Sweden. (Skåne in Scandinavian languages.)
pratyusha902: thanks
geraldburkestu: no problem.
