Answer is simple. Anti boitics work against the mechanism of bacteria. it means that bacteria will need its wall in order to survive. but these antibiotics put a stop to the process of building wall for that bacteria. Antibiotics also disturb the other life processes of that bacteria. However they will not work against virus because viruses do not have wall. they only have simple protein coat. Viral infections generally are not treated as there are no medications. Viruses die at a very high temperatures.

⇒ Antibiotics are commonly use to block biochemical pathways which is important for bacteria.

⇒ Many Bacteria make cell wall to protect themselves.

⇒ The antibiotic penicillin blocks the bacterial processes that build the cell wall.

⇒ As a result, The growing bacteria are unable to make cell wall and die easily.

⇒ But viruses do not use this path ways therefore antibiotic do not work against viral infection.
