Why are open parachute decend slowly where as a stone dropped from the same height falls rapidly

Hey there...............
We know that the surface area of a thing is inversely proportional to the pressure it applies.
The surface area of an open parachute is more than that of a stone, therefore it applies less pressure while moving down than stone, that's why a stone drops faster than an open parachute.
