Oranges and Kinnows are bright because of the presence of carotenes.

  • The color of the flowers and fruits is provided by the various chromoplasts present in the plant cells. Chromoplast is a type of plastid that provides color to the various parts of a plant.
  • Carotene is a kind of photosynthetic pigment which are stored in the fruit and vegetable parts of the plant. It is a chemical substance.
  • These pigments can convert the light energy absorbed by the sun into chemical energy. This chemical energy is used for the growth of the plant. This pigment called Carotene absorbs the sunlight and provides the bright orange color to oranges and Kinnows.
