Peaceful relations with neighbours an important part of India's foreign policy. This is so because if the neighbours would have sour relations, then the country can be attacked anytime by the neighbours. The neighbours can help India during calamities as they are the closest countries. If the neighborhood friendship is good than they can help India in trade and commerce also. Thus, increasing the economic condition of India.
Suppose a case. China has sour relations with India. We all know that it was trying to create road in Doklam region of Bhutan. If China would have been succeded, then he may have started his military practices there which would have been harmful for India. Bhutan has good relations with India. If Bhutan didn't allow India to enter his region and stop China then India won't have been able to stop him. Bhutan may have told China about the information of Indian army. Thus, Maintaining a peacefully relations with neighbours is important.
