It may be due to the difference in the social setup or cultural norms
Explanation:
- When it comes to talking with strangers. Indians are also not rude, they are very welcoming in nature but the way they talk is different from the people in western societies. So, it may seem not so polite to someone who has also visited western societies but it is normal to the native people.
- Therefore, we can say that it is part of the society. Everyone has a different way of talking, different accent.
- For instance, Indians get along with strangers easily and start asking them personal questions which is normal for them but it is not considered a good practice in Europe.

Rather than terming it as 'politeness', we can tag it as a regional accent, precisely, cultural difference.
Explanation :
- In western countries, people call out unknowns as 'Ma'am' and 'Sir'. Likewise, In India we add 'jii' to their names which might not look polite to them as they are used to the foriegn greetings.
- Think of a western guy addressing a rural mate as 'Sir'. Any Indian guy will feel awkward facing those terms unexpectedly. The warmth we feel in our local accent is totally different. And the same applies with the western people too.
- Secondly, people here rather prefer being friendly, than being some unknown stranger. We mostly don't feel if someone in our region talks with us friendly. We are used to it. Remember, it has almost become a habit to us. And habits can't be changed easily.
- The surroundings we have been brought up makes the difference too. You can expect the daughter or son who have been raised in the richness, talk like some middle class person. One can be polite or can be a brat too.
- Overall, It's all about the culture around us. One who is habituated to it finds it warm, while the other one may feel offended.
- Come on! We are exposed to these things in the inter states too. Don't we? I find Tamil people's lifestyle friendly. But I can't expect everyone to feel the same, right?
