there are many reasons for plains being thickly populated as compared to hills.
some of the reasons are:
* availability of food in the plains as growing all kinds of food items is not possible in the hills.
* job opportunities are more in the plains.
* transportation facilities are better in plains than in the hills due to the slopes of hills.
* availability of resources but as water and others.
* due to pleasant weather, not too cold and not too hot.Usually hills have very cold climatic conditions.

the plains are mostly populated when we compare both of them together. there can many reasons for this. few of them are :
1. availability of main and basic needs are more in the plain regions but not in the hill areas.
2. the means of transport are more in the plain when compared to the hill areas.
3. there would more availability for the markets in the plains and less on hills.
4. we can construct a good house in the plain areas but it is harder to construct in the hill areas.
5. the plains have more facilities when compared to hills so the plains are densely populated.
