Why plastic considered an environmental hazard ?

Plastics that are chlorinated can release a number of chemicals into the soil that is present in the surrounding system. This in turn results in these chemicals seeping into the groundwater and polluting the natural ecosystem. In addition to this, plastics can cause a lot of harm to animals that survive on this water.

Reasons are :-

1. Plastics and considered as environmental hazards because they are non-biodegradable. They take billions of year to decompose and if we burn them, they release toxic gases.

2. Chlorinated plastic can release harmful chemicals into the surrounding soil, which can then seep into groundwater or other surrounding water sources, and also the ecosystem. Additives such as phthalates and Bisphenol A (widely known as BPA) leach out of plastic particles.
