why are potassium stored in kerosene

because potassium is highly reactive metal....
if it is kept in open air it can catch fire....
that's why it is stored in kerosene

Potassium is very reactive. If it is placed open in the atmosphere, it can react easily with oxygen or water vapour in air. So it is kept in kerosene.
