Why are potato and ginger said to be modified underground stem and not roots.....Plz give reasons with explanation.... (-_-)

It is not just said that potato and ginger have modified stem their stems are actually modified
The modified stem is potato tuber which is the bottom part of stem that stores food from this swollen part roots will develop and form potato eyes the leaves come out of the soil.
That's why if you put a potato in loose soil and water it then it will send it's roots to the soil and leaves up .
