Why are radishes, carrots, beets, yams thick and fleshy? What are the components of this plant?​

they are thick and fleshy because they store food in form of starch. and this component make it fleshy , thick and swollen from root..

they are also known as tuberous roots.. ex - radish, carrot, sweet potato...
