Cattle ranching is the leading cause of deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. In Brazil, this has been the case since at least the 1970s: government figures attributed 38 percent of deforestation from 1966-1975 to large-scale cattle ranching. Today the figure in Brazil is closer to 70 percent.

Answer:
Because of Deforestation, the rain-forest of the Amazon basin is disappearing.
- The Amazon Basin is a portion of South America evacuated by the tributaries and Amazon River. It stretches from the Brazilian mountains on the south side to the Guiana Mountains on the north side.
- Its area is around 7.5 million sq. km. and it covers nearly half of the continent of South America involving eight countries. Amazon River basin is the biggest river basin in the world.
- Because of the man-made disasters like cutting down trees and destroying the forest, which leads to deforestation, Amazon Basin is basically disappearing which is harmful for the world.
