because they provide us water for drinking purpose irrigation purpose and many other useful purpose is so the rivers are lifeline of mankind it is true

● being an agriculture dependent country rivers play an very imp part in irrigation as well flow of the rivers makes land fertile
●from early we are civilised on river bank we are habituated to stay near the river sources ●rivers are one of the largest source of electricity
●river system helps helps industrialisation too
