Why are roads curved instead of straight?

Hi there,Because it was mountainous terrain, I had to build theroads with curvature anyway. Adding curvature to a roadway on a steep grade lessens the grade on the roadway. It is very much like how when you're riding your bike up a steep hill, you zig zag across the road. ... This is another reason for curved roads.
