Bacteria living in the root nodules fix atmospheric nitrogen to the plant. Plants cannot utilize atmospheric nitrogen directly. Hence, leguminous plants establish a symbiotic relationship with bacteria like Rhizobium. ... Some plants contain root nodules which have rhizobium bacteria.
