roots important because roots are the lifeline of a plant, taking up air, water, and nutrients from the soil and moving them up into the leaves.

Roots are important in growth and development of plants

They help in absorption of nutrients and water,minerals from the soil which facilitates growth of plant

In some plants roots are modified to establish several functions such as:-
mechanical support,food storage..etc

in some plants which live in nitrogen deficient soils,plants have a symbiotic association with those of bacteria such as Rhizobium..

these are some of main functions of roots in plants..
