Shiwalik range is mainly found in the lowermost stretches of Himalayas. This region mainly lies near the river valleys where soil erodes frequently.

The unconsolidated sediments combined with soil erosion are the biggest reason of landslides.

Moreover, being located at the tectonic plates, the chances and threat of earthquake also increases.

shiwaliks are made up of loose, unconsolidated materials like boulders, stones, pebbles and soil. The shiwalik range is located on the boundary of Eurasian and Indo-Australian plate. So, they are more prone to earthquakes and landslides.
