Why are Shiwaliks prone to landslides?

It is because of following reasons : 
(i) Shivalik range is made up unconsolidated sediments, which are not compact and consolidated. 


(ii) These sendiments, are more susceptible for downslope movement under the force of gravity in rainy season......................

Shiwaliks are prone to landslides as these ranges are composed of unconsolidated sediments that are brought down by rivers from the main Himalayan ranges located farther north..
