The sky appers blue because of scattering of light through very tiny dust particles. Both red and blue coloured rays are produces but due to the reason that blue colour has more frequency it appears to us. but during the sunrise or sunset the sky appears red.

The main reason the sky is blue is be size of our Earth's atmosphere..
The molecules of air and other fine particles in the atomosphere have size smaller than the wavelength of visible light. These are more effective in scattering of shorter wavelength at the blue and then of longer wavelengths at red end.when sunlight passes through the atmosphere the fine particles in air scatter the blue colour more strongly than red . scattered blue light enters in your eyes . That blue light is what we see as blue sky...
