Why are small number of surviving tigers a cause of worry from the point of view of genetics?

Small number of tigers cause a view of genetics because there are only few number of tigers.so the process of reproduction takes place slowly as the tigress doesn't find any tiger to mate with.so,the genes transformation will be less in number.May the tigers die after few years.....hope this is helpful to you..i am not sure about the answer.
