Why are solids rigid in shape?

Solids are rigid because the intermolecular forces of attraction that are present in solids are very strong. The constituent particles of solids cannot move from their positions they can only vibrate from their mean positive.

here is your answer....
the solids are rigid in shape ....this is because of the particle arrangements of solid..and the particles do not possess Amy kinetic energy....also there is strong attractive force between the particles..
in solids the particles are closely packed ...I.e they are very close to.eavh other and there is no intermolecular space between them .....
also solids have a definite shape and a definite volume.....
