Why are some cultures more likely to forget events as a whole?

That’s a very good question. Forgetting, or neglecting, can also be a result of a combination of a political and social trauma. Peoples (or societies) who have lost their old land are a good example. One could think of Finnish Karelians or Miami Cubans. These unhappy tribes miss a lot of good possibilities because they fail to acknowledge present facts. Although sometimes (like in the case of Istrian Italians) reconciliation can be reached after several generations have put hard work into it.
