Diabetes is a disorder where the body doesn't produce insulin, a hormone produced by the thyroid gland which is hypoglycemic in function.

Injections of insulin are given to diabetic patients as insulin cannot be administered orally. This is because it is easily digested by the enzymes of the stomach and intestine.

Cheers!
