Some people are very short and some are very tall due to low and excess production of growth hormone from Pituitary gland,respectively.An average height person will have normal excreation of growth hormone.

Sometimes we come across people who are either very short (dwarfs) or very tall (giants) because of Growth Hormone which is secreted by Pituitary gland , if there is less secretion of growth hormone in their childhood , it leads to dwarfism or if there is excess secretion of growth hormone it leads to gigantism
