The substances which can be broken down into simpler substances by the action of bacteria are called biodegradable substances. For example peels of vegetables, animal faeces etc.
Whereas
The substances which can not be broken down into simpler substances by the action of bacteria are called non biodegradable substances.for example plastic etc.
Thus some substances are biodegradable and some non biodegradable.
